RedM is the Red Dead Redemption 2 version of FiveM, and the two work in a similar way.
Before you start
RedM needs a free server key from the Cfx.re portal. Paste it into CFX license in Settings > Startup, then restart the server. Without it, the server will not start.
Connect
Copy the address from the Connect card on the Overview page. In RedM, press F8 and run:
connect your-address:port
Add resources
Resources are RedM's mods.
- Upload the resource folder to
resourceson the Files page. - Add
ensure resource_nametoserver.cfg. - Restart the server. The Console will name any missing dependency.
Many frameworks need a database. Create one on the Databases page, then copy its details into the resource's settings or server.cfg.
Make sure a resource is made for RedM, because many FiveM resources will not work.
Make yourself an admin
Add this to server.cfg, using your own Cfx.re ID, then restart:
add_principal identifier.fivem:YOUR_ID group.admin
The same line also accepts other identifiers, such as identifier.steam: with your Steam hex ID.
Where the settings are
- Settings > Startup: server name, player limit, licence key and server version.
-
server.cfg: everything else, including which resources start. Edit it on the Files page, then restart. - Backups: take a copy before installing a framework or big resource.
- Databases: your MySQL databases and their login details.
If it will not start
Read the Console page first. The usual causes are a missing or wrong licence key, or a resource that failed to load. The Console names the resource that failed.
