Hytale is its own game. Minecraft instructions, plugins and settings do not apply.
First start: log in
A Hytale server must be authorised with your Hytale account before players can join.
- Start the server and watch the Console page.
- If it shows a link and a code, open the link and enter the code.
- If it does not, type
/auth login devicein the Console to get one.
If your account has more than one profile, set Game Profile (username) in Settings > Startup.
Connect
Copy the address from the Connect card on the Overview page. In Hytale, open Servers, add a server and enter the address with its port.
Upload a world
Worlds are kept in universe/worlds, with one folder per world.
- Stop the server and take a backup on the Backups page.
- Zip your world folder and upload it to
universe/worldson the Files page. - Unarchive it, then start the server.
Keep the old folder until you know the new one works.
Install mods
Upload mod files to the mods folder on the Files page and restart. If a mod crashes the server, remove it from that folder and check the Console for its name.
Make yourself an operator
With the server running, type this in the Console:
/op add YourName
Allow Self Operator in Settings > Startup lets players give themselves operator with the /op command. Leave this off unless you trust everyone who can join, as it gives them full control.
Where the settings are
All of these are in Settings > Startup:
- Automatic Update: keeps the server up to date.
- Patchline: the release channel. Players need a matching game version.
- Enable Backups, Backup Frequency and Maximum Backups: Hytale's own world backups, separate from the panel's Backups page.
- Auth Mode: how players are verified. Leave this as it is unless you know you need to change it.
