Connect

Copy the address from the Connect card on the Overview page. In the game, choose Join a Game, then Connect to IP, and enter the address with the first (game) port. Your server has three ports in a row, and these are already open.

Upload a save

Saves are in .local/share/7DaysToDie/Saves on the Files page. Generated worlds are in .local/share/7DaysToDie/GeneratedWorlds.

  1. Stop the server and take a backup on the Backups page.
  2. Upload your save folder to the matching place, keeping the same folder layout. For a generated world, upload that too.
  3. Open serverconfig.xml and set GameWorld and GameName to match your save.
  4. Start the server.

Install mods

Mods go in the Mods folder with a capital M, and each mod has its own folder with a ModInfo.xml inside. Restart afterwards.

Server-side mods need nothing from players. Mods with new code or assets must be installed by every player, with EACEnabled set to false in serverconfig.xml.

Make yourself an admin

With the server running, type this on the Console page, using your Steam ID:

admin add 7656119XXXXXXXXXX 0

Level 0 is the highest admin level. The list is saved in serveradmin.xml in the Saves folder.

Where the settings are

  • serverconfig.xml: server name, password, world, seed, world size, blood moons and most other rules. Edit it on the Files page while the server is stopped. Changing the world, seed or size starts a new map.
  • Settings > Startup: game difficulty, auto-update and game branch.
  • Backups: take a copy before mods, updates or changing the world.
  • Console: commands typed here reach the running game.
